Your Visit

Here’s everything you need to know about coming to Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center, for your care. We offer a range of services and amenities to make your visit with us as stress-free and comfortable as possible.

If you’re coming from out of town to Mays Cancer Center, we’re here to help with travel, lodging and other needs. For help coordinating your visit, please call the Patient and Family Services Center at 210-450-5570.

Valet parking

We offer valet parking for patients at Mays Cancer Center, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

  • When you leave your car with the valet, our escort assists you to the lobby or directly to the clinic for your appointment, if you like.
  • After your appointment, you or a clinic staff member can call the escort at 210-970-2862 for assistance to the lobby. You or a staff member can also call the valet at 210-970-2863 to retrieve your car.
  • If your appointment goes past 5:30 p.m., the valet moves your car to the first floor of the parking garage and leaves your keys with the clinic staff.

Visitor parking

Patients and visitors may park on the first and second floors of the parking garage. From the second floor, a covered walkway takes you into the Mays Cancer Center, and the Welcome Center is directly below on the first floor of the Urschel Building.

Please bring your ticket with you to either pay for parking or have it validated. Pay stations for the parking garage are inside the center. If you’re receiving daily treatments, we validate your parking in Radiation Oncology or the Infusion Center.

The garage parking rates are:

  • 30 minutes or shorter: Free
  • 30 minutes to 1 hour: $1.25
  • 1 to 2 hours: $2.25
  • 2 to 3 hours: $3.25
  • 3 to 4 hours: $4.25
  • 4 to 5 hours: $5.25
  • 5+ hours or a lost ticket: $6.00

Patients with the following military license plates may park for free:

  • Disabled Veteran U.S. Armed Forces
  • Distinguished Flying Cross
  • Legion of Valor Air Force Cross
  • Legion of Valor Distinguished Service Cross
  • Legion of Valor Navy Cross
  • Medal of Honor (Air Force, Army and Navy)
  • Legion of Merit
  • Purple Heart

Services and amenities while you’re here

When you come to Mays Cancer Center, we work to make your visit as easy and comfortable as possible. Find amenities such as:

  • Welcome Center: Located on the first floor of Urschel Tower, the Welcome Center is where you meet us for the first time. Once you register, the new patient coordinator escorts you to your appointment.
  • Patient and Family Services Center: On the second floor of Urschel Tower, the center provides a gathering area for you and your loved ones, with a TV and comfortable “living room” feel. Find out more about our patient and family services during cancer care.
  • Café: You’ll find a variety of fresh breakfast and lunch options, including hot and cold beverages, pastries, sandwiches, snacks and soups on the first floor of the Zeller Building.
  • Chapel: A nondenominational chapel is open 24/7 for prayer and reflection on the second floor of the Zeller building.
  • Pharmacy: If you’d like to have prescriptions filled during your visit, our nearest pharmacy is an H-E-B Pharmacy located across the street at 8300 Floyd Curl Drive. Located on the first floor of the Medical Arts and Research Center, the pharmacy also offers over-the-counter medications and a variety of other products. Helpful services at Mays Cancer Center include:

  • Internet access: Free Wi-Fi is available throughout Mays Cancer Center’s buildings.
  • Language assistance: We provide interpreter services in several languages, including American sign language. Interpreters can help during in-person, video and phone visits.
  • Medical records: You have access to your records through MyChart, our patient portal and app. You can also pick up hard copies of your medical records on the fourth floor of the Grossman Building.
  • Self-care support: We offer scarves, turbans and hats, donated by community organizations, at no cost to patients. For wigs, we can refer you to a nearby community agency. Thrive to a Beautiful You is a free, online workshop about skin care and makeup application.
  • Patient advocate: Our patient advocate shares your compliments and concerns with Mays Cancer Center staff. The advocate also follows up with you promptly to ensure that we’ve addressed your concerns in a timely and respectful manner. Contact our patient advocate at 210-450-1114.

If you and your loved ones need a place to stay overnight during cancer treatment, you have a variety of options for short-term and long-term accommodation.
