About This Event
Many cancer patients in South Texas experience barriers in access to health care, insurance, immigration status, affordable housing, transportation, education, as well as cultural and linguistic barriers. To address this issue, you’re invited to join this webinar, “Addressing Social Needs in Efforts to Prevent and Reduce Cancer,” from UT Health San Antonio.
This webinar will feature several guest speakers to help health care professionals explore the alarming social needs experienced by their patients and research cohorts in the South Texas community, such as barriers in access to health care, insurance, immigration status, affordable housing, transportation, education, as well as cultural and linguistic barriers.
Panelists Dr. Luz Garcini, a clinical psychologist and community health researcher at UT Health San Antonio, Kyle DeLeon, a cancer survivor and Texas Grassroots Manager at the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, and Dolores Garcia, a research area specialist and community health worker, will partake in a discussion moderated by Dr. Amelie G. Ramirez, director of Salud America! and the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio.
A question-and-answer session will follow.
This webinar is part of a six-webinar series, “Let’s Address Health Equity Together,” conducted in collaboration with the Salud America!, program at the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio, the Mays Cancer Center at UT Health San Antonio, and Genentech.
