    About Rachel Adler, PhD, APRN, PMHNP-BC, AGNP-C

    Rachel H. Adler, PhD, APRN, PMHNP-BC, AGNP-C, is a Professor of Clinical Nursing at UT Health  San Antonio. She joined Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center, as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner leading the psychiatric medication management clinic. She is board-certified in psychiatric mental health and adult primary care and an associate member of Mays Cancer Center’s Population Science and Prevention Program. 

    Adler, a medical anthropologist, received her doctorate and masters in anthropology from Arizona State University. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Drexel University and a Master of Science in Nursing from The College of New Jersey.

    Adler joined the UT Health San Antonio faculty in 2021 and provides outpatient adult psychiatry services to the community as part of the School of Nursing’s Wellness 360 Clinical Enterprise. As part of her faculty role, she teaches courses in psychiatric nursing at local clinical sites. Her research focuses on finding culturally appropriate interventions to address the mental health needs of vulnerable populations.

    Adler publishes regularly and is an active member of many professional organizations, including the American Psychosocial Oncology Society and the American Psychiatric Nursing Association. She completed a National Institutes of Health-funded certification training in Meaning Centered Psychotherapy with Memorial Sloan Kettering in 2022.
