About Mary Salazar, ANP
Mary Salazar, DNP, is the director of oncology patient experience at Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center. Mary joined us in 2013 as a nurse practitioner. She obtained a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, with a concentration in Hospital Management Systems and a post-master certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She worked within the Pancreatic - Hepatobiliary inpatient service at Johns Hopkins Hospital before relocating to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where she worked in the Endocrine Surgical Oncology Service. She obtained a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certification and assisted in many surgical oncology procedures at MD Anderson. Mary is also an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and teaches at the School of Nursing in the Doctoral Nursing Program.
