Our team includes pediatric blood disorder specialists (hematologists) who specialize in helping children avoid and recover from dangerous blood clots. Doctors throughout South Texas put their trust in our expertise.
Although abnormal blood clots are rare in children, they can lead to life-threatening complications, like a stroke. And the reasons children develop clots are different from adults. We deliver trusted care, including appropriate testing and leading pediatric treatments.
Why choose us for pediatric clotting disorder care?
Your child benefits from our team approach. Fellowship-trained pediatric hematologists work with genetic counselors, physical therapists and other UT Health San Antonio specialists, including vascular surgeons. We coordinate services that keep your child’s care moving forward.
We are among a select number of programs nationwide participating in the Children’s Hospital-Acquired Thrombosis (CHAT) Consortium. We work alongside other top programs to advance the treatment knowledge of pediatric clotting disorders.
Appropriate care for pediatric clotting disorders
Children who experience abnormal blood clots often have severe illnesses requiring hospital care or inherited disorders. We efficiently pinpoint what’s causing the clot so your child receives the treatment that’s right for their needs.
