New faculty announcement
Jane Mattei, MD, joined us as an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at UT Health San Antonio and a melanoma and skin cancer specialist at Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center. Mattei obtained her medical and doctorate degrees from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Federal College Foundation of Medical Sciences of Porto Alegre at the Santa Casa Hospital in Brazil, followed by a medical oncology fellowship at Conceição Hospital/ Moinhos de Vento Hospital in Brazil and a melanoma oncology fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she also received her clinical training in melanoma.
Gary Lewis, MD, has started as an associate professor of radiation oncology in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center, focusing on therapies for gynecologic and head and neck cancers. He obtained his medical degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and completed his residency in radiation oncology at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Lewis did clinical rotations at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Lewis has experience in brachytherapy and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). Additionally, he has expertise in head and neck cancers and hematologic cancers.
