About This Event
Join us on Saturday, April 5, 2025, for our Give Cancer the Boot Survivorship 5K and 1-Mile Walk to celebrate cancer survivors and support Patient and Family Services at Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center.
The Patient and Family Assistance Fund at the Mays Cancer Center provides life-saving treatments and essential social service support, such as nutrition and clinical dietitian services, emergency lodging for those who qualify and social work assistance to help patients overcome barriers to care. This program relies exclusively on fundraising and the generosity of donors and philanthropic partners to provide these resources to our patients and their families.
Mays Cancer Center defines a "cancer survivor" as anyone diagnosed with cancer from the time of diagnosis and beyond, whether still in treatment or cancer-free.
This event is open to everyone: adults, kids, runners, walkers, health care providers, patients, survivors, caregivers and supporters.

- Mobile mammography will provide routine mammogram screenings available in 2D & 3D
- Some health insurance(s) may require a referral (order) from a provider for a 3D mammogram screening. It will be the patient’s responsibility to obtain prior to the event date. All women who register must be 40 years of age and older without any breast issues.
- Financial assistance will be available for uninsured women.
- Anyone registering for a mammogram screening appointment will receive a text or email notification of an “estimated bill”. By law every hospital system must present a patient with this notification in case their health insurance does not cover the claim for the exam. It is merely an estimate of charges, not a bill.
- Anyone who registers for a mammogram will receive an opportunity to register for “MyChart” either by text or email. This App will allow patients to manage their mammogram appointments and read their mammogram reports. We encourage all the ladies to register. Everyone will be called with the results and receive a letter in the mail with the final results.
