About Travis Newberry, MD
Travis Newberry, MD, is an associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He serves as medical director of the Head and Neck Surgery Clinic at Mays Cancer Center and associate program director for the Otolaryngology residency training program at UT Health San Antonio.
Dr. Newberry specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of head and neck cancers, including cancers of the mouth, tongue, throat, larynx, parotid gland, thyroid, neck and lymph nodes, as well as complex tumors involving the face and jaw. He treats both early-stage and advanced cancers and guides patients through all phases of care, from diagnosis through recovery and long-term follow-up. He also has extensive experience in thyroid and parathyroid surgery, including minimally invasive and complex cases, and treats benign tumors, neck masses and other conditions requiring advanced surgical care.
Dr. Newberry joined UT Health San Antonio following a distinguished 25-year career in the United States Air Force. During his military service, he served as chief of head and neck cancer surgery and deployed multiple times, earning a national reputation for treating complex injuries and trauma of the face, head and neck.
Dr. Newberry believes the best care is delivered through a team-based approach. He works closely with specialists in chemotherapy, radiation and imaging to develop personalized treatment plans for each patient. He is a strong advocate for patient education and takes time to explain diagnoses and treatment options in clear, understandable terms so patients and their families feel informed, supported and confident throughout their care journey.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Newberry is actively involved in medical education and research, helping train future surgeons and advance care for patients with head and neck cancer.
