About Travis Forney, PA-C, MPAS, BSN

Travis Forney is a physician assistant in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

He began his medical career in 2009 as an emergency medicine nurse at University Hospital. In 2014, he earned a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he focused on primary care in rural communities near Amarillo. After several years practicing in primary care, he joined the Mays Cancer Center in September 2024.

Forney specializes in blood cancers. His career choice is shaped by a personal connection to cancer, having witnessed a family member’s experience with the disease. This, combined with his passion for the history of medicine and natural talent for science, led him to oncology.

Outside of work, he enjoys organic vegetable gardening, permaculture and fishing.
