About Preetesh Jain, MBBS, MD, DM, PhD
Preetesh Jain, MBBS, MD, DM, PhD, is an associate professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at UT San Antonio and serves as the Director of the Mantle Cell Lymphoma Program at Mays Cancer Center. He is a lymphoma specialist focused on treating and researching B-cell lymphomas, with an emphasis on mantle cell lymphoma, a rare and aggressive disease affecting the blood, bone marrow, spleen and lymph nodes. Dr. Jain and his clinical team previously ranked in the top 1% nationally for patient satisfaction scores regarding commitment to patients and families.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Jain manages all types of mantle cell lymphoma, with a focus on complex, high-risk, relapsed and treatment-resistant cases. He also evaluates patients with other B-cell lymphomas on a selective, consultative basis, including patients seeking second opinions or advanced treatment options.
Prior to joining Mays Cancer Center, Dr. Jain spent more than five years as a faculty member at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where he conceived, designed and led multiple clinical trials for MCL patients incorporating BTK inhibitors and CAR T-cell therapy. He brings that depth of experience to Mays Cancer Center, where he is expanding access to personalized therapies, next-generation clinical trials and CAR T-cell therapy for patients across South Texas.
As a clinical investigator, Dr. Jain is actively involved in designing next-generation clinical trials for patients with mantle cell lymphoma, incorporating novel agents and CAR T-cell therapy. His research focuses on understanding and overcoming treatment resistance in MCL through molecular profiling and genomic sequencing, and his programs evaluate immunotherapies including CAR T-cell therapy, bispecific antibodies, pirtobrutinib and minimal residual disease testing to detect trace amounts of remaining cancer invisible to standard tests.
He is a speaker at national and international medical conferences and received a Career Development Award from the Lymphoma Research Foundation. Dr. Jain has authored studies in peer-reviewed medical journals including Blood, The Lancet Oncology and the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and his published research has an H-index of 45.
