About Prabhleen Chahal, MD, FASGE, FACG, AGAF
Prabhleen Chahal, MD, FASGE, FACG, AGAF, is chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Human Nutrition at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She is an advanced endoscopy expert focusing on interventional endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP.
Previously, she was at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Digestive Disease Institute, where she served as director of advanced endoscopy training and lead for interventional endoscopic ultrasound. She completed her internal medicine residency, gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship and advanced endoscopy fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Chahal’s research focuses on pancreatobiliary endoscopy, and she has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. She has chaired several committees for the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Currently, she chairs the ASGE membership committee, is vice chair of its ERCP special interest group and was the inaugural chair of its women’s special interest group. In 2025, she was named a Master Endoscopist by the ASGE.
She is also recognized as an educator and has published on curriculum development for training gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy fellows. Dr. Chahal has mentored more than 40 trainees, many of whom are national leaders in gastroenterology.
