About Nicci Owusu-Brackett, MD
Nicci Owusu-Brackett, MD, joins UT San Antonio as an assistant professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery. Dr. Owusu-Brackett specializes breast and cutaneous (melanoma) surgical oncology. She is developing an outcomes-centered translational research program focused on health care disparities among cancer patients.
Owusu-Brackett did not choose surgical oncology by chance. When her aunt was diagnosed with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer, she attended every appointment and saw firsthand how isolating and overwhelming the experience could be. That moment shaped her mission: to treat cancer with both precision and clarity so every patient leaves her care feeling informed, supported and not alone in the process.
