About Mio Kitano, MD, MPH, FACS, FSSO
Mio Kitano, MD, MPH, FACS, FSSO, is an associate professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She is board-certified in both General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology. She is a surgical oncologist specializing in treating complex gastrointestinal malignancies, including those of the stomach, small bowel, pancreas and peritoneal surface malignancies. She also treats benign and malignant tumors of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.
She completed her general surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a three-year research fellowship at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health during her surgical training. She also completed a two-year General Complex Surgical Oncology Fellowship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Dr. Kitano was also named one of San Antonio’s Top Doctors 2021.
