May Tee, MD, MPH, FACS

Dr. May Chen Tee, MD, MPH, FACS, is a surgical oncologist specializing in pancreatic, hepatobiliary, upper gastrointestinal and other complex abdominal cancers. She is the Mays Family Foundation Endowed Professor and Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at The University of Texas at San Antonio. At Mays Cancer Center, she provides advanced surgical care for patients with complex gastrointestinal and abdominal cancers using open, laparoscopic and robotic approaches, including procedures such as the Whipple procedure and pancreatectomy.

Dr. Tee completed fellowship training in hepatobiliary, pancreatic and complex gastrointestinal surgery at Mayo Clinic, followed by fellowship training in transplant and hepatobiliary surgery at Vancouver General Hospital. She earned her Master of Public Health in clinical epidemiology and biostatistics from Harvard University and completed her medical degree and general surgery residency at the University of British Columbia.

She is certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery and in general surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

An active researcher, educator and mentor, Dr. Tee has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and has received research funding from the American Cancer Society. Her work focuses on surgical quality improvement, surgical education, innovation and improving access to cancer care.
