May Tee, MD, MPH, FACS

Dr. May Chen Tee, MD, MPH, FACS, is an experienced surgical oncologist specializing in pancreatic, hepatobiliary, upper gastrointestinal and other complex abdominal cancers. She is the Mays Family Foundation Distinguished Professor and Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at The University of Texas at San Antonio. At Mays Cancer Center, she performs advanced cancer surgery using open and minimally invasive techniques including laparoscopic and robotic approaches. Her expertise includes pancreatic cancer surgery, including the Whipple procedure and pancreatectomy, upper gastrointestinal cancers, and cancers that have spread to abdominal organs.

Dr. Tee completed fellowship training in hepatobiliary, pancreatic and complex gastrointestinal surgery at Mayo Clinic, followed by fellowship training in transplant and hepatobiliary surgery at Vancouver General Hospital. She earned her Master of Public Health in clinical epidemiology and biostatistics from Harvard University and completed her medical degree and general surgery residency at the University of British Columbia.

She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Tee has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, received research funding from the American Cancer Society, and is recognized for her contributions to surgical education, innovation, quality improvement and improving access to cancer care.
