About Katherine Cermin, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, FNP-C
Katherine Cermin, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, FNP-C, joined Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center, in 2022 as a nurse practitioner in the survivorship program. She is an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology-Oncology at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Katherine earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Texas at San Antonio and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington. She then went on to receive her doctorate in nursing practice as a family nurse practitioner, with the highest honors designation from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.
Katherine gained valuable experience working at the bedside in family medicine and critical care, including the COVID-ECMO intensive care unit, and as a nursing instructor at Galen College of Nursing. Her work to improve patient screenings and access to supportive care services was presented nationally and internationally.
She remains active in many professional and community organizations emphasizing healthcare improvement and access. Her focus on oncology survivorship is a testament to her passion for doing everything it takes to help cancer patients overcome the challenges of the disease and its treatments.
