About Eric Umbreit, MD
Eric Umbreit, MD, is an associate professor in the Department of Urology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and a urologic oncologist and Fellowship Director of Urologic Oncology at Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Umbreit is an expert in open and robotic surgical management of testicular, kidney and prostate cancer. His practice focuses on complex surgical procedures tailored to each patient's needs, including retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy (RPLND), large kidney tumor resection, complex partial nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy and inguinal lymphadenectomy (lymph node dissection).
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Umbreit is committed to GME training programs, clinical trials and research on oncologic outcomes. He is the Fellowship Director for Urologic Oncology and has developed a unique fellowship training program at UT Health San Antonio, drawing on his military experience and Department of Defense training.
Dr. Umbreit is an active member of the Society of Urologic Oncology, the Society of Government Service Urologists, and the American Urologic Association.
