Devi Meyyappan, MD

Devi Meyyappan, MD, is an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology-Oncology at UT San Antonio and a medical oncologist specializing in head and neck and thoracic cancers.

Dr. Meyyappan earned her medical degree from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in India and completed her internal medicine residency at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health in Brooklyn, New York. She went on to complete fellowships in medical oncology and geriatric medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and geriatric medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Her clinical practice focuses on comprehensive, longitudinal care for patients with head and neck and thoracic cancers, with attention to age-related considerations, quality of care and smoking cessation. She also participates in clinical trials and research aimed at improving cancer care delivery and outcomes through new therapeutics.

Her research interests include identifying markers associated with adverse outcomes from immunotherapy, understanding how viral infections affect the tumor microenvironment and advancing treatments for virus-driven cancers. She also has a strong interest in medical education and the development of new cancer therapies.
