Devi Meyyappan, MD

Devi Meyyappan, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology-Oncology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She is a medical oncologist and will specialize in treating head and neck cancers.

DMeyyappan earned her medical degree from TN Medical University in India followed by Internal Medicine Residency at NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York. She then pursued advanced Fellowships in Medical Oncology and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch,Galveston. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine through ABIM and Medical Oncology sub-specialty certification in addition to Geriatrics through ABIM.

Meyyappan brings a passion to UT Health San Antonio to develop new cancer therapeutics and medical education. Her clinical practice will emphasize age-sensitive issues and quality of care, specializing in head and neck cancers. She joins the Section to specialize in Head and neck and Thoracic Oncology taking a longitudinal approach including a smoking cessation initiative, direct patient care, and clinical trials. Clinical research includes the advancement of healthcare delivery and the improvement of outcomes with new therapeutics. Basic science research includes identification of markers for adverse outcomes to immunotherapy, change to the tumor microenvironment by viral infection and continued therapies specific to virus-driven cancers.
