About Carissia Calvo–Strube, M.D.
Carissia Calvo-Strube, MD, FACS, is an assistant professor with the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. Dr. Calvo-Strube earned her medical degree at Texas A&M University Health Science Center College of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at UT Health San Antonio and received advanced training through a clinical fellowship in breast surgical oncology at UT Southwestern.
Her clinical focus is on the surgical management of breast cancer, benign breast disease, and oncoplastic surgery, as well as the management of patients with hereditary predispositions or at high risk for breast cancer. She has a particular clinical interest in caring for women diagnosed with breast cancer at a young age and pregnancy-related breast cancer.
Dr. Calvo-Strube has been recognized as a Texas Super Doctors® Rising Stars physician in 2021 and 2022. She was also awarded the UT Health San Antonio Silver Star award which recognizes “individuals who have gone above and beyond for their patients and peers”.Gender
