SWOG Cancer Research Network appoints Chul Soo Ha, MD, to Radiation Oncology Chair
Chul Ha, MD, professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology, has been appointed chair of SWOG’s radiation oncology committee. Ha is a fellow of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and has been an active member of SWOG’s radiation oncology and lymphoma committees since 2007.
Initially, as chair, Ha's priority is to add a personal touch by getting to know each committee member - particularly new and junior members. He said he'd like to learn more about the newest and junior members' goals and how they envision contributing to the committee and SWOG, understanding that member support and engagement will benefit the individual and the organization.
“This appointment gives me a great opportunity to work with some of the best minds in oncology, help shape the oncology research landscape and mentor numerous young investigators at national and international levels while contributing to the mission of SWOG: to significantly improve lives through cancer clinical trials and translational research,” Ha said.
Charles D. Blanke, MD, SWOG chair, said he’s excited about the ideas Ha intends to implement including a commitment to mentoring early-stage investigators.
